It is estimated that there are 45 caverns in this area, all of which date back to the Anuradhapura period. When you climb this rock, the first thing you’ll see is an ancient pohoya dwelling. There is a cave near this building that once housed a painting that was emblematic of antiquity, but it is now impossible to see the image clearly. The ancient dewalaya, which is in the same ground as this, is directly in front of it. A stone inscription can be seen in the vicinity of Dewalaya. The first stupa that can be identified is a largely completed structure. It is crucial to note that just a few steps above this stupa, you can see an image house that has just been renovated, which is worth mentioning. Not only that, but you can also view hulankapolla from here. You can reach the top of the Hadagalakanda by ascending through the image home and continuing through the forest.

You may get a panoramic view of the surrounding area from the summit, which is at the top of the mountain. If you climb to the summit of the mountain, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Weddakanda and the city’s prominent pagodas. There are two stupas, as well as a recently constructed seated Buddha Statue, to be found here. This seated Buddha statue adds to the overall beauty of the temple. When you walk through the little foot path that runs between the rocks in front of the dewalaya, you will be able to view some additional caves and a stupa in the distance. The presence of wall paintings in these caves has been discovered.
We can look for information here. The cave has a drip ledge to keep the rain from getting in. We can deduce that the priest experienced accessibility issues due to his location. As a result, they have stayed here during the wet season as well. It is for this reason that the drip ledge was cut into the cave. Handagala Kanda can be regarded as a good statue of preservation based on the cave inscription found in that area of the cave.
Fourteen of the inscriptions discovered in this site were written by the Brahmi in the second century BC, and the remaining fourteen were inscribed in the Brahmi script in the first century BC.
However, most visitors did not take the time to visit this important site near the ancient city of Anuradhapura. The majority of people are unaware of the historical significance of this sacred site. Consequently, they will not be required to visit this location.
