Hourse Mountain is a landmark in the Kudiramalei peninsula. Thambapanni, also known as Kudiramalai, is an ancient sea port on Sri Lanka’s western coast, within the Wilpattu National Park. It is a site of historical significance. Kuveni Maligawa and Kudiramalai Point are two of the most notable landmarks in the area. Throughout history, monarchs and queens have left their imprint on the land through the construction of palaces, the majority of which are now in shambles. Wild creatures have taken up residence in a number of the area’s “palaces.” The lovely water-filled villus, which were previously utilized by queens as bathing ponds, are now used by crocodiles and water fowl for bathing.
The village of Ketheeswaram, which is located on the Gulf of Mannar near Silavaturai, has a shared history with the surrounding Karaitivu Island, the old port town of Mannar, and the Ketheeswaram temple, all of which are located nearby. It is located at the northernmost point of Puttalam District and was a southern port of Mannar during the classical period, serving the northern kingdoms of the Jaffna Peninsula and Vanni country as one of their southernmost border towns. Kudiramalai Point, also known as Horse Mountain, is a mountain range in the Wilpattu National Park that is located in Sri Lanka. One myth I heard was that there was a gigantic statue of a horse with a rider holding a lamp at the top of the cliff, and that the statue was guarded by a guardian angel. And it was in this manner that the name “Horse Mountain” was given. A highly instructive board has been set up by the navy. An equestrian statue with its front legs in midair and a man holding its reins was said to have stood 35 feet tall, according to the rumor mill. Our journey from Mahawewa to Kudiramalai, a popular tourist destination in Wilpattu, took roughly three hours and took us approximately 40 kilometers (about 40 kilometers).
Located on the northwestern coast of Sri Lanka, between the cities of Mannar and Puttalam, Kudiramalai is a notable old harbor city. It is located in the Wilpattu National Park, which is in the northernmost section of the Puttalam District and within the district. The ancient Greeks gave the name “Hipporus” harbour to the natural harbour that opens onto the Gulf of Mannar, which is world-renowned for its pearl-banking opportunities. According to the Mahavansa, when Prince Vijaya and his companions were approaching the Sri Lankan beach, they noticed a mountain and sailed towards it, as described in the text. According to Mr. R.L. Brohier, the Kudiramalai Mountain is the only mountain visible from the sea on the northwestern shore. Mr. Brohier had gone out to sea and made this observation while on his way back in. It is critical to recognize this location because of Sri Lanka’s long and illustrious historical past. It is necessary to visit the buried disintegrating city in person.

As we approached Kudiramalai Point, on the western coast of the Wilpattu National Park, the weather had improved, and the sun’s rays could be seen shining through the clouds. The sea around us was peaceful, and on the horizon, we could see the small island of Baththalangunduwa, which we had never seen before. From the cliffs of Kudiramalai, I gazed out and took in the panoramic view of the enormous Indian ocean, which was only about 50 feet below me on a steep slope that led to the sea. We were getting closer to the little hills as the canopy of the forest stretched itself about us. It appeared as a villu in the middle of the green cover, surrounded by an expanse of blue. Asela defined it as MailaVillu, the second-largest town in Wilpattu, and the second-most populous. The magnificent white-bellied sea eagle was also found in abundance along the coastline. Similar sights can be seen while walking down a footpath that winds its way through the rocky environment. The degraded soil on the slope has the appearance of having risen from the earth, which is rather striking. There were also jutted out mounds of what appeared to be clay, which was a darker brown in color and had a softer texture than the stony structures that had previously been observed.
